- 20 September 2005. Mr Vassilis Tsagaris attended the SPIE Remote Sensing European Symposium in Bruges, Belgium.
He presented the paper entitled "Classification of multitemporal SAR images for the Broader area of Athens".
- 27 June - 1 July 2005. Participation of the IRIDA group to 2005 Dragon Symposium at Santorini Greece.
- 28 April 2005. A new contract has been awarded by the GSRT, Greece for a
Ph.D. dissertation by Mr. George Christoulas. The project is entitled "Develpoment
of a system based on remote sensing data for automatic detection and classification
of areas with environmental degradations".
- 20 April 2005. Mr Vassilis Tsagaris attended the NAVOBS workshop in Brussels
regarding the 3rd Call on SPACE of FP6.
- 23 February 2005. Prof. Vassilis Anastassopoulos has been appointed a National
Delegate in the Administrative and Financial Comittee of
ESA.
- 7 December 2004. The IRIDA Group has been accepted as a partner
in the Dragon Project "Assessment of the Synergistic Exploitation
of Envisat ASAR and MERIS Data for Plain Flood Rapid Mapping and for Flood
Support Risk Management". Our work involves research for techniques
of automatic extraction of water body from ASAR data and design of fusion
techniques for SAR and other data types.

- 13 September 2004. Prof. Vassilis Anastassopoulos presented two
papers ("Information measure for assessing pixel-level fusion methods"
and "Interpolation of multispectral data using neural networks",
see publications page) in the Image Processing for Remote Sensing Conference
of the SPIE Remote Sensing Symposium 2004 at the Canary Islands,
Spain.
- 7 September 2004. Mr. Vassilis Tsagaris presented two papers ("Feature
Extraction for MERIS data"and "Colour display strategies for enhanced
representation of MERIS data",see publications page) in the ENVISAT
Symposium, organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) at Salzburg,
Austria.
- 28 August - 28 September 2004. Mr. Vassilis Tsagaris joined the
Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing, University of Surrey,
UK to work in the context of a "Reverse engineering human vision
system" project under the supervision of Prof. Maria Petrou. At this
visit the eye tracking experiment, designed in the previous visit, took place.
- 10 July - 20 July 2004. Prof. Vassilis Anastassopoulos visited
the R&D Laboartories of A.U.G. Signals Ltd, at Toronto, Canada.
He advanced, along with Dr. George Lampropoulos, the collaborative research
on Markov chains for SAR and polarimetric SAR images. The aim of this work
is to develop a Markov chain based SAR Constant False Alarm (CFAR) detectors
for surveillance application.
- 5 February - 6 March 2004 . Mr. Vassilis Tsagaris joined the Centre
for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing, University of Surrey, UK
to work in the context of a "Reverse engineering human vision system"
project under the supervision of Prof. Maria Petrou.
- 13 November 2003. Mr. Vassilis Tsagaris attended the MERIS
Workshop organized by ESA at the ESRIN establishment in Rome, Italy.
